You Are Not Alone…

It’s a reminder I need daily.

Despite our mess ups, our short comings, our sin….God loves us.

Since I co-authored You Are Loved, you’d think I’d be secure in God’s love for me….but sweet friends, I struggle in this area just like you. I need daily reminders that I am dearly loved. I need to dig into God’s Word, reading it over and over again and MEMORIZE it! Yes, memorize scripture so that I can draw from it as I go about my day.

This message of God’s love is for me, for you, for us, and it’s powerful, it’s important…..its needed.

The months leading up to this study have been anything but easy. During enrollment time and even before when I’m working on the upcoming studies, I have come to expect some spiritual warfare. But ever since I started writing this book, the battle has gone to a whole new level. I have never experienced spiritual warfare like I have the last ten months. EVERY area of my life has been attacked and at times, to be completely honest with you, I wondered if writing this book was even worth it. “Do women really need to know how much they are loved?” “Is the topic of this book too basic?” I’ve wondered. But based on the amount of opposition that I have faced these past few months and what my translators, leadership team and other GMG leaders have gone through also recently, I’d say this book is needed. Getting back to the basics can be good for us at times.

I think this is just the message we all need to hear and once we know how much we are loved, it changes our whole life because now we can LIVE our lives as women who are LOVED!

I’m so excited for this journey we have begun together because I feel God is building up an army of women, who once they know how much they are loved, will live lives of love. Women who will be able to love deeper, pray bolder and live braver because they will understand how dearly loved they are by God. Their whole life will be forever changed because of His love.

As we begin digging into God’s Word together and reading more of You Are Loved, I encourage you to start viewing God through the lens of love.

Remember that no matter where you are in life, whether you’re in a good place or a hard, lonely place, God is right there with you. Psalm 139:7-10

Christ went to great lengths to demonstrate His love for us….he died on a cross.

“But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us.”- Romans 5:8

Christ’s death is proof of His unconquerable love for us. He went to such great lengths to demonstrate His love so that we will be secure in knowing we are loved by Him.

“A person who feels loved, lives with relief that they do not have to perform. They live with joy to know they are acceptable as they are. They live with hope because they are not alone.”- Sally Clarkson, You Are Loved

You are not alone.

You are loved.

week 1 memory verse

Help me Lord, to embrace the unconditional love you have for me and help me to pass that love on to those you have strategically placed in my life. Give me supernatural love to share with those who need it most. Open my eyes to see how much you love me and help me view you through the lens of love.

Love God Greatly!

  1. Angela, Praise God that He sustained you and Sally to keep writing! Praying for you as you keep on through these 8 weeks. I’m so excited to see what MORE God will do. Love and hugs from this stranger to you! ~Heather

    • Thank you so much, Heather! :) Yes, I’m excited to see how God will move through this study too! :) He is ALWAYS good!!:)

  2. Three days in, my first time leading a group I have to say this is the best study I have done with GMG. Where they all have been great this one gives me goose bumps thinking about God’s unconditional love. So for me your writing this book was worth it……..The only person upset is the Devil that is why he tried to place doubt in your life. Thank you for your sacrifice.

  3. Melissa says:

I am so thankful for the reminder that God loves me. I know He loves me, but, just being reminded that He is with me always, brings great comfort to me.

    • I was thinking about the exact same thing this morning, Melissa! It’s a truth I want to make sure I pass on to my children. It’s so comforting to know that no matter what, God is with us. :)

  4. How reassuring to know that Gods love is not performance based and nothing we can or can not do can keep us from it. We are more than conquerors no matter what we are facing, because God chose us. The victory is ours, we just have to believe it with all of our hearts!!

    • Kim,

So reassuring to know that God’s love is not performance based. – If so, I wouldn’t be doing so well. I love hearing ‘Victory is Ours’ – makes my heart burst with gladness!

  5. This song came into my head when I read today’s scripture verse. I hadn’t heard it in a long time and felt like sharing it.

  6. Amen! We are praying!!

  7. As I drove into work this morning, I was overwhelmed with the thought that God holds me in a strong embrace of love. I am so thankful for this study.

Thanks for writing and sharing with us, Angela. Praying God’s protection over you and your family this morning.

    • I know, it truly is something to stop and meditate on!!! So amazing and so much to be thankful for!:)

  8. Dear Angelia and Sally,
Yes, this study is so very needed today and even for me who has been a Christian for forty years! I especially needed to be reminded of Zeph 3:17 and so happy that it is a memory verse. I so do hope i can memorize it. I say hope, as i have a neurodegenerative disease and have trouble.
The phrase, He will quiet you in His love, is a promise and an assurance i have so needed recently and i need to be more aware of His love. As you have shared in your prayer, I need to embrace His unconditional love for me!!!!
    Oh, Lord,
Please help me to embrace Your Unconditional love for me!

    • Nita, glad you joined us! How did you do with memorizing Zeph 3:17? I struggle with memorizing myself – so I made me a little book to carry the verse to around with me. I keep praying I’ll memorize one of them.

      Lifting you up in prayer,
      Martha ‘Leadership Encourager’

      • I, too, have a medical condition that blocks my memory, so I wanted tobthank you for the little pocket notebook idea. Now I can read small verses whenever and wherever, which gives me a greater chance of memorizing them.

  9. sheila miller says:

Feeling loved! What a wonderful feeling and learning to lean on my God more each day. I count it all as joy when I open my emails each morning or go onto FB to read the ladies’ comments and SOAPS. So many are feeling loved and able to see it for the first time. Our God is an awesome God! He empowered you ladies to write this book and He will grant us the grace to finish it. Have a wonderfully blessed day, Ladies, YOU are loved!

    • Sheila,
So glad you join us here and on Facebook, thank you!

We do serve an AWESOME God! Have a great 2nd week (late in responding).

  10. I love this! Because it’s one thing to know that we, as women, are loved. But it’s another to LIVE knowing that we’re loved. And I think that’s a struggle that most women face. Because we know that we’re loved but it’s hard to live it because of the expectations that we face at home, in the workplace and even at church.

Here’s my take on Day 2 of the study –

    • Victoria,

It is so hard to live with the expectations we place on ourselves that are rooted in the world and not in Chirst, I’m so guilty of that. Thank you for sharing your take on Day 2 with us.

  11. Michele says:

The first three days of this study have seen me the happiest I’ve been in a long time. I finally realized that not only God does not require perfection, He delights in my imperfections. I am an artist and sometimes, the artist “messes up” and has to find a way to work the imperfection into the total picture and make the piece “Work”. There is no greater joy than when you figure it out and act on it, and some of my best pieces have been “mistakes”. God loves a challenge, and He certainly has His work cut out for Him with me. Knowing that I will not be judged by how many times a year I go to church, or how many times I swear, or any number of imperfections that are in my life, is very freeing. I am not a mistake…..I’m a beautiful piece of art and I am loved by my creator.

    • Michele,
YOU are a beautiful piece of art and YOU are LOVED by our Creator! I pray for those who judge- that they dig in deep to work on their intimate relationship with God our Father. I really enjoyed reading your post, thank you for sharing!

  12. God is so good! Yesterday was my birthday and I was feeling very down and lonely. I opened my email and saw the first email for the You are Loved study. Reading the scripture was just thing I needed. A gentle reminder. (I also opened a devotional that just happened to confirm God’s love for me too!) I did not join a group for this study since I hadn’t purchased a book but now I am actively seeking a copy of this book to borrow since our budget is so tight. I have searched our local libraries and the 2 off the online library resources (Overdrive and Michigan eLibrary). Does anyone have any other suggestions?

    • Angie, the book is only available on Amazon. So glad you are enjoying the Scriptures and blog post devotional so far! You can cannot with others who are working their way through the study on the Good Morning Girls Facebook page.

  13. I wanted to share that although I’ve always known God loves me and how amazing it is that He can actually love someone like me… I’m bless bc not only do I know who loves me but you have shown me scriptures that I can now share with others when I come across someone who needs encouragement or someone who may be feeling unloved. Thk u for this study it has keep me in the word . Today’s scripture zeph. 3:17 “He will rejoice over me with singing” reminds me of a song “God is Singing Over Me” by TaRanda Greene. .. I can begin to tell you how bless and grateful I am for this on-line study GB

    • Thank you for sharing Lydia! So glad you are here with us!

  14. I am enjoying this study, thank you Angela and Sally for your devotion to God and this study. I have been struggling on His love for me, because I have only experienced human (imperfect love) and when I read about God’s love, I feel like saying, yeah right, its hard to rely on His love when my emotions don’t feel the embrace of His unconditional love. I am praying that my soul will continue to embrace His love out of faith and not feelings. This book is definitely helping me. I heard this song the other day, NEVER ALONE by Barlow Girl. if you have a chance check it out. totally explains emotions vs faith.
    with love, monica

    • Monica,
Lifting you up in prayer that you continue embracing His love out of faith! So glad to hear the book and study are helping you.

  15. Natasha Bruce says:

The study is touching my heart overwhelmingly more that I thought possible – especially the chosen Words. God is so wonderful, so amazing. I am so grateful that He has stepped in to love me (has always, but the realisation of it has not always been clear to me or rather, believable), when those who should have did not know how to and while I am still struggling to do so myself. Oh how I pray that His love wil shine through me to my lovelies so they will never for one minute doubt that they are loved beyond description. I long to absorb His love so completely, that I will never have a second of doubt again.

    • Beautiful Natasha – Thank you so very much for sharing how this study is touching your heart in an overwhelming way! WOW!

Angela and Sally, I want to thank you and your family for all that you went through in order to write this book and make this online bible study available to us! God Bless you and yours!

  17. Dear Angela and Sally,

Thank you so much for the hearts you have to encourage women in their walk with God. This study is definitely NOT too basic. I have been struggling in this area, and praying hard that God would help me to really believe that He loves me. Even just the introduction of your book made me cry! I am determined to stick through this study. I am sure it will change my life forever if I really let the truth of God’s word sink in.
Love to you both, and God bless you!

    • Julia,
Oh the book has made me cry several times. GREAT to hear you are determined to stick through the study! Lifting you up in prayer to really let the truth of God’s word sink in.

Fighting the fight in more ways than one. I keep reminding myself of our memory verse, Zephaniah 3:17, especially “he is mighty to save” and “he will quiet you in his love”. I need this so much, and saying it all day gives me some peace. God bless us all through this wonderful journey. Amen!

    • Kathy,
I’ve been saying it several times a day, all week. Lifting you up in prayer for the the strength to keep fighting! Glad you are here with us for this wonderful journey.

  19. Loving this study and the book! Really needed to hear this again. So far have had three songs come to mind since doing the study so want to make a playlist for the You Are Loved study on Spotify. So far have “More Than Conquerors” by Seeds Family Worship, “You Are There” by Sherri Youngward and “Sing Over Me” by Bethany Dillon. Does anyone have any other suggestions for songs? Thought this could be a good way to keep reminding myself of this message throughout the day as well!

    • Sharon,
Thank you for sharing what songs came to mind. I added them to my list.

  20. Hey there! I have really enjoyed this study so far and it has been a joy having the reminder of God’s love, because I know i’ve needed it! I have a question about the groups though. Are they supposed to be more interactive or are we just supposed to post our SOAPs every day? I joined hoping for a more personal experience but so far all my leader does is post her SOAP the night before and leaves it at that. I’m not trying to complain, really i’m not! This is just my first GMG study and trying to figure out how it all works. Thanks!!

    • Hi Alyssa,

Thanks so much for your question! The groups really can be as involved as the leader and members want it to be. :) Feel free to discuss some of the verses or discussion questions if you’d like. You can also see if everyone would like to share prayer requests…etc. :) You might want to contact your leader and see if you’d like some help creating greater interaction between the women in your group. :)

  21. Kathy h says:

I am getting off to a late start but wanted to say thank you for faithfully putting on the armor of God and writing this study! I feel so blessed to have found your study! In the midst of many losses in the last 7 years, I have forgotten how much God loves me….I lost my son in 2007, my brother in 2011, my mom and sister in 2012, and my husband suffered a traumatic brain injury in the midst of it all. I had come to believe that God was mad at me and there was no way back to Him…..I am once again feeling God’s love for me through this study….and the verse He led me to a couple of months before I started was Jeremiah 31:3 “I have loved you with an everlasting love”!

    • Kathy,
I’m so sorry for your losses – and I’m so very glad to hear that you once again are feeling God’s love for you! Thank you for sharing Jeremiah 31:3 – perfect!
      Lifting you up in prayer.

  22. I adore that the NLT translation of Zephaniah 3:17 says ” For the LORD your God has arrived to live among you”
Such a comfort to know that when life rallies against me, and I feel alone or abandoned that my Father has ARRIVED, that He is with me, living in the midst ready to take my hand.

    • Samantha,
It is indeed comforting to know that our Father is with us through all that life has to throw at us! I love reading the different translations too.
